Themes

In 2026 we will discuss: Red flags

Red flags are signals that something is wrong. In journalism, we create some of them ourselves – when we replace accuracy with speed, when editorial compromises slip into self-censorship.

Others come from outside – intimidation of reporters, economic pressures on editorial offices, algorithms that decide what we see. Five days of discussions about ethical dilemmas in journalism.

Topics we'll discuss

Beyond your own bubble

How social networks and algorithms create parallel realities. They change what you consider “normal” – if everyone in your feed thinks alike, you think that’s how the whole country thinks.

The audience doesn't like it: Should we care?

Discussion on audience pressure on media content. How to respond to reader resistance to unpopular but important topics.

Bratislava through the eyes of foreign reporters

How do those who write about Bratislava for the Financial Times, Reuters, or the BBC see the city? Foreign correspondents…

Women in the media

Attacks, harassment, questioning of competence. What do female journalists experience today.

Student media

Student media is not just “practice” journalism – it is often the first place where boundaries are tested.

How journalism was done in the 1990s

How was journalism done in the 1990s, and do we see similarities with the present?

Panels, workshops and coffee breaks. Debates that matter, tools that help and contacts that last. This is what happens when journalists meet to share what works, what doesn’t, and what needs to change.
